Free Glucose-Ketone Index (GKI) Calculator

Calculate your Glucose-Ketone Index instantly from a blood glucose and BHB ketone reading. No signup. Then track the trend over time in Keto Pro.

Enter both readings to calculate your GKI.
GKICommonly described as
> 9No meaningful ketosis
6 - 9Low-level ketosis
3 - 6Moderate ketosis
1 - 3High ketosis
< 1Deepest range discussed in therapeutic protocols
One reading is a data point. A trend is signal.

Keto Pro logs every reading, charts your GKI over weeks, and exports a PDF you can hand to a clinician. Your data stays encrypted on your device.

Common questions

What is the Glucose-Ketone Index?

GKI is your blood glucose in mmol/L divided by your blood ketones (BHB) in mmol/L. It expresses glucose and ketones as a single ratio, which tracks metabolic state more tightly than either number on its own.

How do I convert mg/dL to mmol/L?

Divide your glucose reading in mg/dL by 18. A reading of 90 mg/dL is 5.0 mmol/L. This calculator does the conversion for you.

What GKI number should I aim for?

Ranges are commonly discussed as: above 9 (no meaningful ketosis), 6-9 (low-level), 3-6 (moderate), 1-3 (high), and below 1 (deepest). Appropriate targets depend entirely on your goal and your clinician's guidance.

When should I take the reading?

Consistency matters more than timing. Most people test at the same time each day, commonly 2-3 hours after waking and before eating, so readings are comparable to each other.
